- digital transformation Dr. Josua Oll joined the Management Research Group at the University of Oldenburg as a postdoc in July 2019. His research centers on issues of sustainability and digital transformation at the intersection of strategic management and finance. Specifically, he investigates three overarching questions: (1) How do variables at the individual level (e.g., attention, values) affect decision-making in the context of (corporate) sustainability? (2) How do environmental discontinuities (e.g., climate change, digitalization) affect organizational change toward sustainability? (3) How can corporate sustainability research be advanced from a methodological perspective? In his empirical work, Dr. Oll draws on both quantitative and qualitative methods and focuses on the financial, energy, and information and communications technology (ICT) sectors. Dr. Oll’s research has been published in leading journals, such as Business & Society, Organization & Environment, or Organizational Research Methods. His doctoral dissertation on the topic of Socially Responsible Investment was awarded the Dr. Walter Kapaun Study Prize 2020. At the Academy of Management Annual Meeting 2020, his submission was judged as one of the best papers in the program by the Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE) division and he was also selected as one of the ONE division’s best reviewers. Dr. Oll is co-author of the teaching case study “The Case for Divestment: Rockefellers’ Fortune?“, winner of the oikos Case Writing Competition (Sustainable Finance Track) in 2016. Dr. Oll was a research associate at the Chair of Capital Markets and Management at the University of Hamburg and completed his PhD in Management with honors in 2019. During his time as a PhD candidate, he also visited the Markets, Organization and Behavior Research Group at the University of Southern Denmark. Prior to his PhD, he earned a MA in Sustainability Management and Economics from the University of Kassel, a MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews, and a BSc in Economics from Maastricht University. Dr. Oll gained practical experience at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, and Commerzbank’s Corporate Responsibility department. Selected Publications Baur D.G., Oll J.
